Unit Four: Students and the Constitution

Because public schools are administered by the government, the actions of school officials are subject to some Bill of Rights limitations. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has never held that the rights of children are the same as those of adults. The cases in this unit explore the rights of young people in public school with respect to free speech and press, and freedom from unreasonable searches.
